Kaminari Studio began from a love of craftsmanship and simple, thoughtful design. With a passion and appreciation for every step of the process, from sketchbook to workshop, Kaminari Studio was born.

The name “Kaminari” comes from the Japanese word for thunder — a symbol of energy, creation, and respect for nature’s power. It also connects to my own surname, Corlett, which traces back to Thor, the Norse god of thunder. Together, these influences reflect the heart of my work: craftsmanship that balances strength with serenity, and tradition with modern design.

Working in my York-based workshop, the pieces I create embody a blend of minimalist design with Japanese-inspired calm and functional beauty. Every piece is made to order from quality materials, shaped and finished by hand with care and precision. My aim is to create furniture that feels timeless — grounded, warm, and quietly powerful.
